The Running Man was Released 38 Years Ago Today

Based on Stephen King’s novel, the sci-fi action thriller The Running Man takes place in the year 2019, where America has become a totalitarian state where the favorite television program is a game show called “The Running Man.” The show features inmates who are given the opportunity to run to freedom while avoiding a brutal death at the hands of blood-thirsty hunters. Wrongly imprisoned by the corrupt government, former police officer Ben Richards (Arnold Schwarzenegger) is unwillingly thrust into The Running Man arena. However twisted show host Damon Killian (played by real-life game show host Richard Dawson), has no intention of letting him escape.

Directed by Paul Michael Glaser, The Running Man was released in U.S. movies theaters on November 13, 2025, starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, Maria Conchita Alonso, Yaphet Kotto, Jim Brown, Jesse Ventura, Professor Toru Tanaka, Mick Fleetwood, Dweezil Zappa and Richard Dawson.
