Actress Corinne Cole, also know as Lari Laine, began her career in entertainment as Playboy magazine’s Playmate of the Month for the May 1958 issue. The photo spread came soon after being discovered by an RKO studio talent scout while studying journalism at the University of California at Berkeley.
In October 1975 – after placing in a number of beauty pageants and appearing in numerous movies and television shows – a man broke into the house Cole shared with her second husband Robert E. Heffron. The intruder tied up her spouse – a wealthy tire distributor – and kidnapped her, leaving a ransom note demanding $300,000. He stuffed her into the trunk of a vehicle, but her husband escaped his bonds and called police, who caught the kidnapper a half-hour later. Cole was released unharmed. A friend of the couple was arrested for the kidnapping.
