The Tribute in Light art installation was created in remembrance of what happened on September 11, 2001. The installation includes 88 vertical searchlights arranged in two columns of light to represent the Twin Towers. The exhibit is located six blocks south of the World Trade Center on top of the Battery Parking Garage in New York City. The Tribute originated as a temporary event in 2002, but became an annual event produced every September 11 by the Municipal Art Society of New York.
