The Norman Lear-produced sitcom Sanford and Son centers on the misadventures of a cantankerous junk dealer and his frustrated son, as they navigate life in 1970’s Watts, Los Angeles. The comedy classic’s opening sequence included clips of the truck the business owners used to haul fresh merchandise into the shop, accompanied by the song “The Streetbeater,” which was scored by legendary musician Quincy Jones. Sanford and Son starred Redd Foxx, Demond Wilson, LaWanda Page, Don Bexley, Whitman Mayo, Nathaniel Taylor, Lynn Hamilton, Hal Williams, Howard Platt, Gregory Sierra, Fritzi Burr, Raymond Allen, Pat Morita, Noam Pitlik, Marlene Clark, Frank Nelson, Slappy White, Nancy Kulp and Arnold Johnson.
